I have written elsewhere in this issue of The Vintage Magazine about the revolutionary Hotelier, Robin Hutson, and referred to his previous Finance Director, Peter Chittick, who, with his wife Carolyn created a stunning Hotel perched on top of a Hill Village in Provence, called ‘Crillon le Brave’.

It was in the summer of 1988 that Peter and Carolyn set about finding a Provençal property to convert into a hotel.

Crillon le Brave - Paradise in Provence

They stumbled upon the large country house of a Parisian family in the tiny hamlet of Crillon le Brave, and about a year later, with the help of business partner Craig Miller and his wife Susan Meech, they opened the Hostellerie de Crillon le Brave with 11 bedrooms in what is now the “Maison Roche”.

Over the subsequent 18 years, the Hotel has grown organically, and expanded to encompass six more village buildings and a total of 32 bedrooms. In 1995, the Hotel joined the prestigious association of fine hotels “Relais & Châteaux”.

Through the years, Peter and Craig have been supported by a strong group of co-investors, and in 2006, Robin Hutson, joined as a director and his wife Judy has been responsible for all recent design refurbishments

The Hotel occupies and number of ancient buildings in the hilltop town of Crillon Le Brave, and has spectacular to Mont Ventoux in the distance.

I can thoroughly recommend it as a relaxed and informal refuge where you can quickly ‘de-stress’, and enjoy all the simple pleasures of Provence, and it is located about 25 miles North-East of Avignon.

And, as a Special Offer to members of The Vintage Magazine, Crillon le Brave have very kindly offered our members three nights for the price of two (room only) with dinner for two on one night (with a local bottle of wine included). Offer valid until the end of November 2012.

So, if you want to take advantage of this great offer, please contact:

By air, the main options are Avignon, Marseille and Nîmes, and further away, Nice and Lyon. Of these, Marseille has the most daily flights including Air France, British Airways, Easyjet, Ryanair, and Aer Lingus.  By train, the Avignon TGV station is less than an hour away from the hotel.
